This is an antique captain’s chair, also known as a tub chair or smoker’s bow chair, dating from the early 20th century.
It features a low, curved back with armrests supported by turned spindles, typical of Arts & Crafts or Edwardian design.
The chair has turned legs and double cross stretchers for added stability (note one back stretcher is missing but doesn’t affect its use) It comes with a seat cushion upholstered in a decorative patterned fabric that is removable.
As an antique piece, it shows some age-related wear, which adds to its character.
It is sturdy and fully functional but would benefit from some tlc and restoration.
